Sightseeing

A beloved park formed by a lagoon loop in the community and my personal favorite for jogging or walking. The park is a hidden gem in Newark, small to medium size and almost never gets crowded. There are lots of geese, duck and birds in the park, so be alert for the poops. Other than that, it's an enjoyable 15 to 30 min walk especially in the early morning or evening. Family and dog friendly.

Neighborhoods

Be prepared to be taken back in time! This hidden little gem truly signifies the good ol' small American town feel from the moment you drive down the main strip. This area is full of antique stores, coffee/tea places and historic buildings. Very walkable street to emerge yourself completely to enjoy the special vibe. Some people call it the Hollywood before Hollywood. Gilbert M. “Broncho Billy” Anderson, an actor and film director who helped run the Essanay Film Manufacturing Company based in Chicago, opened the California branch in Niles in about 1912, and more than 350 silent films were shot over the years in the area, including “The Tramp,” which stars Chaplin himself. There's also a farmer's market and numerous events hosted by the Niles Merchants Association (e.g. like the recent Spring Fever car show). This is a small town with about a half day's worth of activities but worth a visit if you're in the area.

Food scene

The best Chinese restaurant in Bay Area in my heart. Ping's Bistro offers authentic Hunan style Chinese cuisine. It is both savory and spicy.
