Places that are great for walking, and wildlife.
The nearest beach to Stones Cottages is about 10 minutes drive away. A secluded beach with amazing views. Backed by marsh, and woodland and a great place to see sandmartins. The beach is mainly pebbles, with sand when the sea is out, which also reveals a fossilised ancient forest. The beach can be reached by the coastal path, and another smaller beach, Aber Bach, is a short walk along the coast path. There is a lovely circular woodland walk leading from the beach through a National Trust woods. With bluebells and wild garlic covering the forest floor in spring.

Skomer Island is one of our favourite places to visit. An abundance of wild flowers, wildlife, incredible views, and of course the iconic puffins. Visit the Wildlife Trust website for details on boats and how to book. https://www.welshwildlife.org/visit/skomer-island There is very little shelter on the island so you need to be prepared for both sun, and rain.

A great little nature reserve. Mainly floodplain, home to many species. There is a small car park, hide, and a boardwalk forming a circular walk. Run by the South & West Wales Wildlife Trust.

Although close to the road, and the ferry port, Goodwick Parrog has a surprising amount to offer. A wide variety of bird life, rock pools, ancient fish traps, dramatic sunsets, all within walking distance of the brilliant Ocean Lab, and café. Cross over the road, and suddenly you are on Goodwick moor, a rich wetland. There even is a beach for swimming, and a play park.

One of a few ancient woodlands in Wales. Over 400 kinds of lichens, many very rare. Knotted trees, wild flowers, and singing birds. Makes for a particularly good evening walk.
