Local Attractions

The Cataract Gorge (14min walk to the start of the gorge walking path) (20min walk to the basin) Launcestons most famous attraction, a must for any tourist. Its no grand canyon but a magic spot for a walk, coffee, swim or relax. A 457m long chairlift will take you across the basin and give you a great view up and down the gorge. Believed to be the longest single span chairlift in the world.

Collections include colonial art, contemporary craft and design, Tasmanian history, natural sciences and a zoology collection. Kids love it, with plenty of fun and engaging activities on offer.
James Boags Brewery tour (24min walk) A 90 minute tour through Tasmanias biggest brewery which was established in 1881. Finish the tour with a tasting in the heritage listed Brewer Bar.
