This remote lighthouse is well worth a visit, but it can be bleak in bad weather and the walk to and from the car park at the top of the hill is extremely steep.

My Favourite Beaches

Miles of beautiful sandy beach, popular with surfers.

The Gauldrons beach is sheltered by surrounding cliffs and is often warmer than surrounding beaches, but the waves are huge and wild. Definitely worth a visit when staying. It's probably best to park at the Bird Observatory and walk from there, about half a mile.

Miles of sand and big waves, Westport Beach is very popular with surfers, kite-fliers, dog walkers and families. There is a free car park adjacent to the beach. Watch out for rip-tides if you're a swimmer, though.

Carskiey Bay at Southend and it's beautiful scenery is popular with families. There is free parking with a picnic table available a very short walk from the beach. Why not stop off at Muneroy's in Dunaverty Southend for cake on your way back.

Bird-Watching and Wildlife

Lots of seabirds, and you may be lucky enough to spot seals and dolphins in the bay, or an Eagle. The Bird Observatory has a good website and they publish monthly reports on birds and wildlife seen. Parking is free. the car park is uneven, but there is a good path up to the Observatory.
