Rocks Landing is a great place for a special night out. Located directly on Crystal Lake, you have great views and food. You'll definitely want reservations. There are three different seating areas, inside, on the porch,( I ususally book on the porch because if the weather is bad your reservation won't be cancelled.) or outside which is great too, weather permitting.

Sightseeing
SBD is about 30 minutes from my house. A pretty drive along M22. Lot's of hiking, biking and swimming options. Pierce Stocking Drive is a great way to see some beautiful views in your car and their are also places to get out to walk and take in the views. There is a visitors center in Empire and I have a lot of info at the house.
Peterson Beach is about 10 minutes from my house and is part of SBD, it's a gorgeous beach with not a lot of people. The photo on my guide book is from Peterson Beach.

Nice bike and walking trail that starts in downtown Beulah. You can head to Frankfort or Thompsonville. There is trailhead that you can park at or just park in downtown Beulah.

There are two movies and it doesn't get dark until about 9:30 so expect a late night or early morning if you do both movies. It is a popular attraction so you'll want to get there earlier than 9:00.

My house is located in Honor which is a small town with easy access to Sleeping Bear Dunes, depending upon where you want to go it's typically not more than a 30 minute drive.
Beulah is a cute town on Crystal Lake, about 10 minutes from the house.
Frankfort is about 20 minutes away and offers shopping, restaurants and Lake Michigan.
Glen Arbor is a popular tourist destination where some of the SBD attractions are. You will also find other cute towns further north, Leland, Fish Town and Northport.
The largest city is Traverse City, about 45 minutes away. Easy airport to go in and out of. The Benzie Bus provides transportation for $20 a person. Will pick you up and drop you off at the house. You need to call ahead to set up. Let me know if you want more details. I use it often and love it.
