Lake Cushman
One of the most beautiful lakes in the Pacific Northwest. Big, deep and worth exploring. Bring a boat if you have one, but ramp access is an additional fee, arranged through owner. Fishing mostly for Kokanee and Cutthroat Salmon, but the fish are deep and challenging to catch. (Lake Kokanee is a bit easier to fish) For tubing, waterskiing and cruising and exploring, you can't top this lake. Epic photo ops from end to end.

Relatively flat hike starts behind cabins and ends up along the lake shoreline. Stick with it long enough to get to the tiny cool waterfall right across the trail. So beautiful!

Food in the area
If you're from a city or used to lots of good food options, Hoodsport's food "scene" may disappoint. We lost our pizza place, which in our opinion was the best meal in the area. There are places to eat here, but if you're a foodie, bring your own and grill up and enjoy at your property. If you must venture out for a meal, we recommend Union for 2 Margaritas and Alderbrook Resort, or head North on 101 to the Hamma Hamma Oyster Saloon, but both are quite a drive from your cabin.
One of the best reasonable meals in the area. Gorgeous views of Hood Canal and the marina. Friendly, festive atmosphere. Open mic and pretty decent live music on Monday evenings. Worth the trip from your cabin, we can promise.

We LOVE this place. Owner, Kirk, is always around and very friendly. Fantastic ice cream (a bit pricey) and on weekends runs a food special that's very good. If you're a foodie, this place will not disappoint. Basic beers, snacks, etc all available. Get some ice cream and sit on the front stoop and watch for Bill Gates, who owns a compound and grew up summering in the area.

The term "city" in here is comical. But this place is cool and charming. Operated by Alderbrook Resort, this little gem has a great little store, clean bathrooms and on weekends, serves fantastic food and drink. Great place for tasteful souvenirs too.

No longer an IGA, but is a decent grocery store for it's size. Big beer, wine and liquor selection. Little to no organic foods. Decent fried chicken and to-go sandwiches.

Odd place. American food served up by a Korean family. So so quality. Always busy due to location and limited competition. For ice cream, Hoodsport Coffee and Union General Store are more charming.

Small but really charming, Union has better food than Hoodsport. The Mexican restaurant, 2 Margaritas, has great views, pretty good food and a good friendly vibe. The Alderbrook Lodge is top shelf across the board and by far is the best food in the area.

Very basic Casino with a small restaurant.
Small, clean and has decent food. No kids allowed.
A small, simple casino. Only gambling is slot machines, no cards or craps. Food in the bar is decent, but kids are now aloud. Staff is a bit old and grumpy.
