Hastings has more history, restaurants and fun than most other seaside towns can offer. There is always something going on from food fairs to international bmx and skateboard competitions. Live music is alive and kicking in Hastings with many pubs and bars having bands on all year round, not forgetting the stage on the pier. There are so many restaurants to choose from so there is something for everyone. A range of traditional fish and chips to fine dining and everything in between including tapas, Turkish, Thai, Persian and many more. Hastings boasts three theatres and cinemas offering an eclectic mix of entertainment. There are a range of galleries, museums and pop up markets to delight all tastes. If you are feeling more adventurous you can hire paddle boards and kayaks or maybe just sit on the beach for a spot of quiet sea fishing. The old town is just that, no Costa Coffee or Greg’s but there are many lovely cafés and patisseries and independent shops selling your hearts desire. Hastings town centre has Costa Coffee and Greg’s and many popular high street shops. For the kids there are 4 crazy golf courses, indoor and outdoor skate parks, indoor aquarium, penny arcades, trampolines and of course the beach. 1066 country has such a rich history to explore, everywhere you look there’s something interesting and informative. From a staycation to meeting up with friends and family, The Happy Plaice in the heart of Hastings is the place to be.

With three 18-hole courses, Hastings Adventure Golf is the UK centre for miniature golf and the home of the annual World Crazy Golf Championships. The three courses are Crazy Golf, Adventure Golf and Pirate Golf. Crazy Golf is ideal for families and suitable for children of any age, even as young as 3 years. Crazy Golf takes about 45 minutes to play. Pirate Golf has two battling pirate ships with explosions, huge splashes of water and a giant skull that talks to you and eats your ball! Again, a good family course and tremendous fun. Allow 45 minutes to play Pirate Golf. Adventure Golf has landscaped gardens, rocks, fountains, waterfalls and even a cave. Plus ‘Tikki Poles’ that talk to you and spit water at you. This course is a little trickier to play and ideal for families with older children, say 6yrs and upwards. It also takes a little longer so players should allow up to one hour to play Adventure Golf.

Hastings, one of the oldest fishing ports in Britain, is home to the Hastings Fishing Fleet; the oldest and largest beach-launched fishing fleet in Britain. It is extremely interesting walk to amble among the boats drawn up on the pebbles but you must be careful because there are winch cables which cause trip hazards. Fish caught by the fleet can be bought at the shops at the back of the beach. You can't get fresher fish than that!

Creating amazing food has always been my greatest aspiration, but amazing food has to be authentic. This is what I hoped to achieve by opening Marrakech Artisan restaurant in Hastings Old Town , that I could share those authentic tastes of home, tagines cooked to perfection in traditional stoneware, baklava with that superbly crispy filo pastry and baba ganoush with that extra smokiness to the aubergines. It’s all about passion for food and sharing that passion with everyone in order to make them happy.

Rye is an English town near the coast in East Sussex. In the centre, cobbled lanes like Mermaid Street are lined with medieval, half-timbered houses. The redbrick Lamb House was once owned by writer Henry James. Nearby, the tower of the Norman St. Mary’s Church overlooks the town. The 14th-century Ypres Tower, which formed part of Rye’s defences, is now Rye Castle Museum, with paintings and displays on local history.

Following an extensive reconstruction project, Hastings Pier reopened to the public in April 2016. The pier is a modern, 21st century attraction with its history and heritage at its heart. Designed originally by renowned Victorian engineer Eugenius Birch and first opened in 1872, Hastings Pier has stood through wars, played host to music legends such as Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd, been closed down, caught fire more than once and was raised from the ashes by the local community and the Heritage Lottery Fund. The new, modern, RIBA-award-winning pier is a simple and sustainable platform that is loved by locals as well as being a popular visitor destination. As well as the Pavilion Restaurant and beach hut-style food and drinks kiosks, vintage fairs, exhibitions and family-friendly events to keep you entertained – the Pier itself is an attraction that is not to be missed. Uninterrupted expanses of elegant Ekki wood allow you to get out in the elements and enjoy being closer to nature.
