Enfield Shaker Village is nestled in a lush valley between Shaker Mountain and Mascoma Lake in New Hampshire. This special place has been cherished for over 230 years–first by the Shakers who lived, worked, and worshiped here from 1793 to 1923, and now by Museum staff, donors, members, and visitors from around the world. The Shakers believed in equality of the sexes and races, celibacy, communal ownership of property, and separation from the “World’s people”. They opposed war and sought perfection in their work. In their large and architecturally distinct communities the Shakers achieved a remarkable degree of sustainability and self-sufficiency.

Foot travel only. No bikes. Beautiful trail system. This 112-acre preserve protects habitat for wild brook trout, bears, and many other creatures, while offering trails and quiet enjoyment of a peaceful place. Mink Brook Nature Preserve offers a natural retreat just south of downtown Hanover. The predominant natural community is upland forest composed of white pine and hemlock. The smaller of the preserve’s two streams is Trout Brook, which winds northward to join Mink Brook. Mink Brook is a direct tributary to the Connecticut River and is affected by Wilder Dam’s activity up until just downstream of the log crossing. Many of the paths within the Preserve parallel Mink Brook and pass by pool and riffle areas of this dynamic boulder filled watercourse. The preserve has a fascinating history, and hosts black bears, wild brook trout, waterfowl, and other wildlife- not to mention a highly interesting plant community!

The fresh and less oily food culture of the Native country, Nepal has dominance in the Base Camp Cafe cooking. We don’t use MSG or any artificial colors or flavoring. They have 90 % Gluten Free menu and most vegetarian and vegan options in the Upper Valley region. It is a family restaurant with a deep love of food and people eating it. “The Guests are God” cultural concept will be found here in practice. The idea and experience be seen on every plate as we serve 60% of fresh seasonal crunchy vegetables, 30% of freshly cooked protein, and 10% carbohydrates. . http://basecampcafenh.com

If you are a foodie, don't miss this place. In addition to a top quality cooking school (something for the beginner as well as top chefs), and cooking supply store, they have a wonderful bakery and cafe. Go early, it can get crowded at lunch.

We love this place. They serve craft beer, cocktails and great food with much of it being locally sourced. We recommend reservations. Windsor Station was a fully operating train station until the mid-1960’s. It closed down and eventually was left empty. In 1976 the train station once again became alive and was restored and converted into a restaurant.

The Norwich Farmers' Market is one of the oldest and largest farmers’ markets in northern New England. The market was founded in 1977 as a collection of local growers and craftspeople interested in selling their products directly to consumers. For 40 years the Norwich Farmers' Market has offered the very finest in homegrown and homemade products in the Upper Valley. Our vendors sell only items grown, raised, created, or prepared by their Upper Valley-based business. Every Saturday from May through October, and twice a month November through April, vendors offer a rich cornucopia of fresh farm produce, delicious baked goods, and exquisite handcrafted items. In the summer, you'll find us in our outdoor setting on Route 5 South, about a half mile from Exit 13 off 1-91. In the winter, you'll find us indoors at Tracy Hall in the village of Norwich. Our farm vendors offer their own fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats, eggs, honey and maple syrup, fiber products, and an abundance of garden starts and plants. You'll find all manner of baked goods, both sweet and savory, from our prepared food vendors. There are selections for breakfast and lunch at the market plus take-home dinners and items to stock your pantry, like jams, pickles and sauces. Our craftspeople offer a rich assortment of pottery and jewelry, wooden bowls, dried flowers, greeting cards, herbal scents and lotions, handmade soap, hand knit and woven accessories. The market is operated by a nonprofit Vermont corporation, Norwich Farmers Market Inc, established for the purpose of providing a sales outlet for local farmers, craftspeople, bakers and producers of prepared foods. The corporation is run by a volunteer board of seven directors, who are elected each spring at the annual meeting of the corporation.

There motto, "If we don't have it, you don't need it." It is so true. Gas station, grocery store, farm equipment, clothing. It goes on forever. Sneak through the doorway behind the butcher counter to access the hardware and farm equipment. You have to see it to believe it.
