Farm Club is our absolute favorite restaurant in the area. The beautiful new barn hosts unbelievable local food and a wonderful gift shop and market. If you are like to bike it is on the Leelenau Trial. 231-252-3079

Old Indian Trail is a five minute drive North on Sutter Road. Enjoy the two 2.5 mile loops that lead to the Lake Michigan beach dunes. Pack a snack or lunch for a beach picnic. Great for hiking, snow shoeing or cross country skiing.

This is a popular local excursion, so we recommended going before 11 am or after 3 pm in the summer. In the fall this is a gorgeous way to enjoy the fall color and the salmon run on the Platte River.
Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail is hands down our favorite ½ day adventure with (or without!) the kids. This 27 mile bike trail winds in and out of the woods and follows Lake Michigan up the shoreline. We love to end up at Joe’s Friendly Tavern in Empire for burgers after this adventure. Rent bikes at Crystal Lake Adventure Sports in Frankfort.
If you are biking with kids we recommend one of the two following routes:
1. Park at the Bar Lake trailhead and make your way 5 miles to the famous Sleeping Bear Dune Climb. Have lunch at the Dune Climb before heading back.
2. Park at the Sleeping Bear Dune Climb and head north 2.1 miles to Glen Haven. In Glen Haven you will find a beautiful beach with picnic benches to enjoy a break and a bite to eat. If your crew is still energized head another 2 miles to Glen Arbor where you will find many restaurants, shops and some ice cream. Don’t miss the Cottage Book Shop.

Crystal Mountain offers year round adventures for all ages. Check out their website for what’s happening and day rates for various activities. Cherry Bowl-There are only about 300 drive in movie theaters remaining in the US. We are fortunate to have one just 15 minutes away. They often play family friendly movies so this is great activity for everyone.

The Michabou Beach is a beautiful five minute walk away. Be sure to bring the beach key if you are driving because there is a locked gate. Take a right out of the property, turn left on Michabou Shores Road and a right on Tiba. Take the left hand turn into the Private Beach signs and park in the lot. Enjoy the gorgeous beach and views. Towels and beach toys are in bags in the bedrooms. DO NOT miss a sunset on this beach. There is a fire pit so grab the S’mores kit and head down for dessert!
