My favorite restaurant in Austin! The owners of Uchi and Franklin’s Barbecue created this amazing spot. They don’t do reservations so if you have a big party, you can go put your name in, and either grab a drink on their outdoor patio or go across the street to Black Sheep Lodge.
What to order:
Wonton Chip & Dip (trust me, the sauces are AMAZING)
Oak Grilled Snap Peas
Chicken Karaage
Crispy Potatoes (who doesn’t like carbs?)
Smoked Beef Brisket (starting at 4pm)
Smoked Prime Bavette
Drinks:
Frozen Gin & Tonic (I don’t ever Gin & Tonics, but this one is lovely)
Frozen Mojito (this one is usually just available at their outdoor patio)
Frozen Mango Sake Slushee (for those who like sweeter drinks)

Sign up to play a round of pickle ball at the front desk! Parking is usually a disaster here, so you might have to pay $10 to park next door. Or it’s a quick 10 minute walk from my place.

I used to live on Rainey and got this once a week. So good. This is the burrito truck right next to Little Brother Bar (they are owned by the same people).

Burrito (I prefer the regular Bummer chicken burrito with avocado. Get the special sauce on the side so you can really taste how good it is)
Chips and Queso (ask for the seasoning on the chips, you won’t be disappointed)

Party Marge (at first sip I didn’t really like it….at about sip 3 or 4 I was in love)

Top 5 restaurants in Austin in my opinion. Amazing margaritas. Great outdoor rooftop patio. Food is top-notch. A fancier version of your favorite Mexican restaurant. Parking can sometimes be a problem. I highly recommend a reservation if you don’t want to wait an hour. It’s a pretty small place and locals love it.

El Alma
1025 Barton Springs RdTop 5 restaurants in Austin in my opinion. Amazing margaritas. Great outdoor rooftop patio. Food is top-notch. A fancier version of your favorite Mexican restaurant. Parking can sometimes be a problem. I highly recommend a reservation if you don’t want to wait an hour. It’s a pretty small place and locals love it.

Amazing food. I recently went here and the food and service were both top notch. It feels like you walked into a New York City restaurant. Pro tip: their ribeye is expensive, but HUGE. You can easily split this between two adults.

There is actually one closer on Barton Springs Road which I recommend. Get the Wondershowzen. If you forgot to stop by, you can grab it at the airport on your way home!
