The Iowa River Landing is a shopping and residential district right across the river in Coralville. Lots of dining and upscale retail options! Trader Joes offers a friendly grocery shopping experience. Stroll the elevated path over the wetlands park behind the Hyatt hotel. Classic car enthusiasts can check out the Classic Car Museum. There is plenty to explore at the IRL. The Iowa River Landing is a short drive OR a 1.75 mile walk or bike ride. Walk across the scenic pedestrian bridge to the Iowa River Power Restaurant and follow the path to the right (north).

Big Grove offers a huge variety of beers brewed on site. The menu is an eclectic mix of international-inspired bites (we like the banh mi sandwich, the paneer curry, and the tacos) and pub favorites like chicken wings (cauliflower wings for the veggie lovers), burgers (Impossible patties available, too), and delicious fries. When the weather is nice, there are ample outdoor seating options. Hint: after dining at Big Grove, kids and adults will enjoy a short walk to the unique Riverfront Crossing Park (1001 S Clinton St, Iowa City, IA 52240). Connect to the paved trail from the back of the Big Grove parking lot.

Museum

Learn about the history of our area and imagine what Iowa City would look like 400 million years ago at the bottom of the sea. Don't miss Bird Hall, which houses the largest collection of bird specimens west of the Mississippi. Mammal Hall contains a wide array of mammal specimens from around the world. Both Bird Hall and Mammal Hall are disconnected from the main museum space. You'll need to go upstairs on either side of the building. We recommend that you ask a docent or the gift shop attendant how to find them.
