he Vesper Kitchen and Bar opened in September 2016 by owner Joe Frocchi to bridge the gap between casual and fine dining. Over the last 5 years, our restaurant has become a place for colleagues, neighbors, friends, and family to gather in our own unique and cozy corner of the world. We provide a unique experience to those wishing to find something new, different, and special. Tucked away in the Washington Square Community in the historic 1 Capron building, The Vesper is steps away from Geva Theatre, Roc City Skatepark, Genesee Riverway Trail, the new Promenade at Erie Harbor, Blue Cross Arena, and well, pretty much everything else downtown Rochester. We’re a proud supporter of the Washington Square Community Association, an active community group that helps keeps our neighborhood tidy, safe, and at the forefront of the decision makers at City Hall.

Food scene

The Owl House menu features nightly specials and inventive sandwiches, soups, salads, and small plates with ingredients sourced from local providers whenever possible. A large selection of craft beers and cocktails, artisan wines, delicious desserts from nearby bakeries, and locally roasted coffee are offered to round out the meal. With appreciation for diners with varying palates and diet preferences, most items on our menu can be prepared gluten free and/or dairy free and many more can be prepared vegan or vegetarian. In addition, The Owl House offers pick up and drop off catering.

They are open! Dine-in, carry out and delivery service available. Beer & Wine available to-go! Look for us on Door Dash, Uber Eats, Grub Hub. Due to COVID-19 our beer selections have changed, we now will carry 30 beers on tap and your favorite cans and bottled beers. We are waiting for our local breweries to produce the post-shutdown of beers. Sunday Bloody Mary Brunch, Early Bird Specials, Live Magic, and Live Music performances are all suspended for the time being.

Museum

The National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House in Rochester, New York was the home of the legendary American civil rights leader, and the site of her famous arrest for voting in 1872. This home was the headquarters of the National American Woman Suffrage Association when she was its president. This is also where she died in 1906 at age 86, following her “Failure is Impossible” speech in Baltimore. We invite you to tour our website to learn more about this great reformer and the many programs we offer to inspire others to change the world for the better. Visit the Photo Gallery, browse our Museum Shop, and learn about our ever-expanding programs. And, if you happen to be in Rochester, NY, we invite you to come to 17 Madison Street. It’s an incredible and inspiring story that you won’t want to miss!

Rochester's unique position on the Genesee River means one of the area's most beautiful natural attractions can be found right downtown. The rushing river tumbles 95 feet off the escarpment at High Falls crashing into a maelstrom of froth and mist. The best view of the falls is from High Falls Terrace Park, where you can look across to the falls from a high vantage point. Restaurants perched on this side of the gorge are just a short walk away from the park and make a nice lunch stop. For a close-up view of the water rushing over the edge of the falls, head across the river to the High Falls Lookout near the Gorsline Building. This viewpoint is surrounded by interesting 19th-century buildings. If you don't mind a bit of a walk, stroll out on the pedestrian-only Pont de Rennes Bridge for a straight-on view of High Falls.
