Hovin

Local in Hovin and the areas around.
It is about 3,5 km from The Prydz-cabin to Øvre Fjellstul. About one hour walk trough marshes and old forests. The path leads you to the wide views towards Blefjell and the bluish hills to the south. Then it continues eastwards in an attractive and open landscape with beautiful bogs, small ponds, twisted birches and the short-grown mountain pines. This cottage has a very special charm. There were sheep and cows here until 1967, and the DNT has operated a tourist cabin here since 1972. The restoration work has been carried out with the utmost respect for the cabin's original appearance - both outside and inside.

Support our local grocery store! Matkroken, a small local grocery store in Hovin. If you come from Kongsberg, you pass it on your way. Here you can buy food and fill up your cannister with drinking water (if it's mid summer and dry). Here you'll also find containers for garbage when you are leaving.

Skirvedalen fjellstue is the starting point for trips into Skirvedalen nature reserve. Old forest, that's getting more and more scarce in Norway due to modern forestry.
