Sightseeing

Skookum Chuck Narrows – my number 1 thing to check out on the Sunshine Coast. Adventure seekers from around the world come here to shoot the rapids in this unique waterway. Two times a day when the tide changes, the currents come to life. Kayakers come to challenge themselves and play in the crazy water. It takes a hike of 45-55 minutes (dependent on fitness ability) in by trail. I highly recommend bringing in a backpack with some snacks and water to sit and watch the show. As well proper walking shoes are really needed due to the unevenness of the trail. Check out the tidal times so you see it at the best time to watch the kayakers.

Tetrahedron Provincial Park – a longer day hike If you are super motivated. For those planning to visit the park for the first time, try the trail to Bachelor Lake cabin (2.5 km, one way) or Edwards Lake cabin (4.5 km, one way) for a great day hike, snowshoe, or ski touring trip. A popular loop route runs from the parking lot to Edwards Lake and then returns via the cabin at Bachelor Lake.

Neighbourhoods

like the Famous Molly’s Reach in Gibson’s. This fish n chip restaurant was the filming location for a popular 70’s show called Beachcombers. Also in Gibson’s is the Public market which has live music Saturdays and a farmers and artisan market on Fridays. The Gumboot Café is another popular local place, I recommend the Café not the restaurant for value and the same great food

A cute oceanside neighbourhood with an amazing flat seawall walk. Check out the pier where local anglers drop a line for fish and crab. Across the street is the popular Wobbly Canoe Restaurant.
