The Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc covered bridge was built in 1936 to connect the banks of the Shawinigan River. At the time, this sector of the Municipality was very prosperous and housed a sawmill, a cheese factory and a forge. You can still see imposing cement pillars, vestiges of the sawmill. The bridge, cited as a historical monument by the municipality in 2001, was restored in 2009, giving it a proud appearance. Near the bridge, along the Shawinigan River, the municipality created a historical park in 2007 to commemorate part of the history of this area. Interpretation panels have also been installed along the park's trails relating the highlights of this flourishing era. This is a great place to picnic, swim and appreciate the beauty of the Shawinigan River. In the spring when the snow melts or after heavy rains, the waterfalls alone are worth the trip. This site is also accessible to the public for sport fishing. Located 6.3 km from the chalet
