This trail is fantastic. It is a multi use trail that just happens to run by the Cedar st Guest House. parts are paved and parts are gravel. It connects to the R.A.M.B.A trailhead which is a mountain bike trail system in Ishpeming and the neighboring town in Negaunee. If you have more then one vehicle and one that can haul your bikes you can park in Marquette, drive back to Ishpeming and do the Iron Range Roll...19 miles of mostly decline all the way into Marquette. If you like breweries there are 4 that are pretty much right on the trail. You could ride all the way back but it's up hill all the way.

Some of my favorite places to eat. So many restaurants in Marquette it's sometimes hard to choose and I could go on forever. Washington St and Third St are the places to go for good local food and shopping. I will refrain from mentioning Franchise chains.

I recommend hiking around the Isle. Heed the warning signs regarding dangerous cliffs. Almost every year someone gets hurt because they go past the signs. If you time it right maybe 1.5 hours you can get to the other side called "Sunset point" to catch the sun setting past the Lake Superior Horizon. Keep an eye out for wildlife. Many deer roam the area and every so often a rare albino deer is born.

Like Sugarloaf this is a great view of the landscape and Lake Superior. The hike is more difficult and longer with no stairs just hiking. Stay on the trail because it is easy to get turned around if you are not used to the area. I recommend a small daypack with minimal survival gear just in case. If you do get lost and are able to hike north/east you will reach the road which you can follow back to the trailhead. Don't ask how I know that. :)

Marquette is the bustling hub of the Upper Peninsula. All the major stores are here. There are almost too many restaurants to choose from! Front st, Third st and Washington St are the downtown areas to hit for the local experience. This is where most of the pubs are and the Verabar on Washington st which seems to be the only "nightclub" in town. The city is a walkable city. These three streets are fairly easy to make a loop. The Lower Harbour Park is also just a block away from downtown. This is a college town, home of Northern Michigan University. So when school is in there are many young people around. The city vibe is pretty inclusive. If you've ever been to the UP you know we say hello to everyone!
