Esterito neighborhood is to the North and adjacent to El Centro commercial district. Historically it was where many successful fisherman lived and has many historical buildings and homes, many of which have been turned into restaurants, cafes and renovated homes. It is perhaps the hippest in La Paz with many new cafes, restaurants and small shops. Of course much of the famous Malecon forms the oceanfront border of Esterito zone. Its been renovated and upgraded over the years to include a smooth boardwalk enjoyed by families strolling the waterfront, joggers, scooters and dog walkers. It has a wide bike lane that runs the entire length of the boardwalk.
