Maintained trails and child-friendly facilities provide a variety of ways for visitors of all ages to experience this natural setting.Thanks in part to the Canada 150 Fund, the new Accessible Viewing Platform at Ken Reid Conservation Area has been completed. The Viewing Platform is a jewel of the Conservation Area and offers spectacular views of the Provincially Significant McLaren Marsh. A series of puncheons (boardwalks) have also been constructed and installed along portions of the Woodland Loop and Rabbit Hollow Trail.

The Kirkfield Lift Lock is the second highest hydraulic lift lock in the world with a lift of 15 metres (49 ft). The lock is situated at the highest point along the Waterway at 256.20 meters (840.5 ft) above sea level.
