Not hiking by any means, just taking a leisurely walk with your friends and family, You can walk from your cottage and within 1/2 mile be at the beginning of our Bude Canal Path, which runs along where horses used to pull the barges in from the sea into the inland planes. One path runs along the tow-path the other along the cycle trail. Either way is a nice way to walk into Bude. (about 2/5 miles) and watch the nature in the nature reserve along the way.

Typical Cornish Fishing Village, ravaged by floods back in 2004. There are still signs of how high the water rose, however the town recovered and came back stronger. Here you can just wander around, walk along the coast path and spot seals splashing in the sea. Grab either a cornish pasty, fish and chips or a cream tea, visit the witches museum and walk out to the edge of the harbour. There is also a FANTASTIC farm shop on the way into the village which is well worth a visit at any time of day as the food is DEVINE (also has a play area for kiddliwinks)

Famous for King Arthurs residence, the Castle, which visitors can visit. The Village itself is full of little trinkets, and some buildings look like they've been stuck in time, you can also visit the 60ft Waterfall and other smaller waterfalls & Woodland at St Nectans Glen just on the outskirt of the village . You could take this all in by Bus from Bude, just visit the Bude Tourist Office for Bus Timetables.

Made more famous in recent years as the location for filming the Doc Martin. The cobbled alleyways and whitewashed cottages which line the picturesque harbour of Port Isaac are reassuringly familiar to viewers of television drama Doc Martin. Perched on the cliff of Roscarrock Hill, overlooking the fishing boats which every day land their Atlantic catch of lobster and crabs, is the stone house used as the home and surgery of the disgruntled Dr Ellingham, played by Martin Clunes. Further around the secluded bay is the Georgian pub, The Golden Lion, where – both on and off screen – the cast gather for a welcome pint with a view of the sea.
