Best baked goods and coffee in the neighborhood! There is almost always a line out the door but if you hit it at an odd hour you won't have to wait long. Try the "snowy plover" for a unique and delicious coffee treat.

Don't be fooled by the sports bar appearance of this place. In the back are a half dozen communal picnic tables and the place is kid friendly. The tacos are a favorite, especially "Nick's way". But be warned that if there is a big sports game on, the place will be packed! Bonus, there is a basketball arcade game.

Le Trio is the closest place to walk for a cup of coffee and a snack. They are new so have limited hours. Check to make sure they're open before walking the two blocks. The lemongrass chicken banh mi is delicious!

The historic Cliff House right above Sutro Baths offers the most stunning views of the ocean and beach in San Francisco. There is a very nice restaurant but we never eat there as it is very pricey. It's great just to sit at the bar and look at the view.

Parks & Nature
There are so many beautiful and interesting parts of the park but if you are short on time and have a car, enter the park at 41st Ave and Lincoln and drive up John F. Kennedy Dr going east. You'll pass the bison paddock, a few small lakes, several large meadows, even a waterfall. Take a walk through the Japanese Tea Garden or tour the De Young museum. Also, in this area in the Academy of Science which is great for all ages but especially the young ones.

There are so many beautiful and interesting parts of the park but if you are short on time and have a car, enter the park at 41st Ave and Lincoln and drive up John F. Kennedy Dr going east. There are a few trails that wind around a beautiful eucalyptus forest that is lush and green and covered in all sorts of vines. Its a favorite family hiking spot!

Just a block from our house, this park and recreation center offers a playground, tennis courts, basketball gym, outdoor volley ball court, outdoor basketball hoops, ping pong tables and a huge field with a baseball diamond.

If you have a car and at least half a day to spare, Muir Woods is NOT to be missed. You must make a reservation ahead of time so make sure to go online and do that ASAP if you are interested. Or you can catch an Uber out there but it is out of the way and will cost you.

Haight Street is very touristy and pretty grungy but I suppose that goes along with it's reputation. There are some great shops, cafes, bars and cheap eats. If you have never been, it is worth checking out as it is definitely a cultural experience in San Francisco.
