THE best source for fresh whitefish et al in town. Located right on the docks, their boats go out daily and supply most of the local restaurants. Try the whitefish pate, whitefish sausage, etc.

My local gym - VERY friendly staff, good day and week rates for visitors, easy access location downtown and a decent array of cardio and weight machines. Yoga classes, spinning, aerobics, etc.

AWESOME beach - this has dunes, great swimming, stunning views, rarely crowded and has a beautiful set of walking trails in the woods adjacent to the beach area. No bathrooms, just pure nature :)

One of the best stretches of pure sand beach in the state. Drive through the camping area (state park fee without license plate sticker) to the beach access. Walk out to Fisherman's island, swim in!

One of the great public spaces in town - beautiful local architecture. Check out the main reading room, kids corner and garden area. Free live jazz concerts every Wednesday night in July and August.

Sightseeing
Excellent bike trail starts at the corner of Waller Road and US 31, just down the road. Beautiful paved trail for bikes, walkers, etc. that follows the lake from Charlevoix to Harbor Springs.

Start at Park Ave. to see the Lighthouse and beach, then follow along the lake shore to find the "Mushroom Houses" of famed architect Earl Young. The Weathervane along the channel is also his.

If you have time, and you like hiking, beaches, wildlife, etc. take the ferry (2 hrs) from the harbor to Beaver Island for a day/overnight. Great beaches, quaint restaurants, quiet. Bikes are best.

Just down the road from the house is the Charlevoix Township Recreation area. Brand new basketball court, great tennis courts (4), soccer fields, new jungle gym, new baseball diamond, bathrooms.
