Vicki and I are not "foodies," but Sorellinas serves very nice Italian food, and it's sister restaurant Harrington's (on the way to Suttons Bay) are really good and fairly prices.

It's right across the street from Snail's Pace. Very nice for lunch and dinners - American fare. Sunday buffet is popular. Sports bar in back is fun.

Pierce Stocking drive is a must. So is Glen Haven and the hiking trail. Empire and its beach, and Glen Arbor are great places to explore. Several nice places to eat lunch or dinner.
Mike's 3rd great grandparents settled near Glen Arbor in the mid 19th century. They grew apples on Miller Hill. Mike's great grandfather was a respected physician in Empire.

Rent a boat and float the Crystal River. Outfitter is in Glen Arbor. Easy, kid-friendly, affordable. Stop and swim in the shallow, slow-moving, warm water.

Boating or driving along this multi-county route can be breath-taking. Your sojourn will take you by many quaint towns and scenic lakes. From Elk Rapids, the chain eventually leads to Lake Huron.

I have never been there, but I have heard many, many great things about it. It's a long drive from TC's east side, but it's probably work it.

A very beautiful setting between Duck Lake and Green Lake. The summer series of entertainment brings top shelf entertainers to the area. There is not a bad seat in the house, so if you must settle for cheap tickets, don't feel bad.

Close, classy, and affordable. The museum is on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College. Very accessible from Munson Avenue. An easy walk for adults.

To be honest, I have never been to the Music House, but I hear so many great things about it. It's inexpensive and only a few miles east of Snail's Pace. I hear it's great for oldsters and children alike.

Top of the Park for beautiful night time views of Traverse City. Piano bar. Can be pricey and crowded, but it is the highest spot in town. Minervas restaurant is on the ground floor and serves good and affordable food.

It's a little further away than Old Mission, but there are nearly three time the number of tasting rooms. The views and bargains can be outstanding. My favorite vineyards/tasting rooms include The Boathouse, French Valley, and Mawby, and there are many other great tastings rooms in this beautiful county. Check out Northern Latitudes Distillery in Lake Leelanau (for spirits) and the Hop Lot in Suttons Bay (for craft beers).

Getting Around
Subsidized public transportation. This is a great way to navigate Traverse City. Two bus stops are very close to Snail's Pace. One is at the south entrance to Munson Community Health Center; the other is at East Bay Shopping Plaza. Both are within a few minutes walk.
