Food Scene
One of my favorite places on earth! And it's right there close by. Try to go on a weeknight or a Sunday evening. Otherwise, go early if you go on a Saturday, it gets packed around 8pm. Try the grilled octopus--they slow-cook it with black garlic and it melts in your mouth more like a slow-roasted pork than a member of the squid family! They also have fabulous cocktails for only $10--a veritable steal around here these days for a non-dive bar! My other favorite dish is their daily oysters (they have both east and west coast options which change daily). On some nights they have local DJ's spinning retro albums! And the kitchen is open late.

This is a newer business is the neighborhood that I am a huge fan of! They have AMAZING beverages of all sorts, including coffee. But they also have an incredible selection of vintage vinyl and an incredible atmosphere. Very friendly and efficient service too!

A walk around Lake of the Isles or any of the other lakes nearby is one of the highlights of Minneapolis! A walk around Lake of the Isles takes about 45 minutes - an hour. Perfect after brunch or in the evening for sunset! Lake of the Isles is calmer and has fewer people most of the time, but if you want to see folks and be seen, visit Lake Bde Make Ska nearby!

Cedar Lake is sleepy and so pretty. It's a pretty lake with lots of woodland trails and views of downtown. Very unique! It's perfect for swimming in the summer.

Super cool bar with vintage video games. Especially fun for those of us who grew up in the 80's, but the place is also full of young folks getting in on all the vintage fun! They also have a ginormous jenga game and great drinks!
