Well-priced factory seconds on fabulous knitwear. bit tricky to find as the road is closed but worth making the detour.

Instead of going to Selfridges or Harrods pick up a bargain jumper at the Smedley Factory Shop! Combine going to this shop with a trip to Matlock Bath or walking along the nearby river. Smedleys have been designing and making knitwear in Derbyshire for over 200 years. www.johnsmedley.com

World renowned knitwear, open seven days a week, 10am to 4pm. The factory at Lea Mills is the world's oldest manufacturing factory, having started in 1784 shortly after the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. DE4 5AG, 5.9 miles from the flat.
