Located within the expansive Osaka World Expo Park (Banpaku-kōen), this fabulous museum brims with interesting and colourful objects for a whirlwind tour through many of the world's cultures. Exhibits range from Bollywood movie posters to Ainu textiles, Ghanaian barbershop signboards to Bhutanese mandalas and Japanese festival floats, even a Filipino jeepney. Note: there's limited English signage so it's best to get an audio guide. From the station, cross the bridge to the park and follow the signs to the museum. From Kyoto, take the Hankyū line to Minami Ibaraki Station and change to the Osaka Monorail.

This ambitious museum showcases the world's cultures, showing them to be the continuous (and tangled) strings that they are. There are plenty of traditional masks, textiles and pottery but also Ghanaian barbershop signboards, Bollywood movie posters and even a Filipino jeepney. Don't miss the music room, where you can summon street performances from around the globe via a touch panel. There are also exhibits on Okinawan history and Japan's indigenous Ainu culture. There's English signage but the audio guide gives more detail.

National Ethnographic Museum, a cultural facility located at the Expo Memorial Park. The exhibits collected from all over the world can be arranged in a row and you can learn the diverse culture of every region. There are also some strange items that can not be caught in common sense. It is definitely exciting to meet the strange Kiteretsu in the world!
