According to legend, Ogunquit (pronounced /o-gun-quit/) was named by the Abenaki tribe, because the word means “beautiful place by the sea." Ogunquit has evolved from a fishing village in Perkins Cove surrounded by farms to the bustling tourist destination it is today.

Ogunquit is loaded with shops, restaurants, and a beautiful beach. Spend the day at the beach or sightseeing from the trolley. Use a shuttle to get from in town parking to the beach or Perkins Cove. Candy shops, museums, Ogunquit has it all.

Ogunquit translates from the Native American to "beautiful place by the sea," and no truer statement exists! This lively town has a certain vibe and is an all-inclusive town. Piano bars host drag nights, and people show their Pride. The beaches are spectacular, the night-life lively yet civilized. Restaurants abound and include pizza, pasta, Thai, American (boring, but necessary burgers and such) and let's not forget the venerated Lobster. The Ogunquit Playhouse had a fantastic lineup of shows for 2022, including The Nutty Professor.
