The waterfall is a private property in the protected area of the Juan Castro Blanco National Park, there is a large parking lot with only one access. Best way to live up to its name, “Costa Rica’s ultimate secret” the waterfall is incredible and has a 180m drop. To get there, you start with a garden full of very cool hummingbirds, then go through a forest with several viewpoints that open like balconies on the path and then go down a mountain of steps until you reach the base. The waterfall falls into a kind of yellow funnel that can be seen from any angle. Difficulty: Intermediate Time: 90 min

For me, offers the most beautiful waterfalls in the area. It is located about 1 hour and a half away from La Fortuna and the area offers great hikes. The first one is to visit Del Toro Waterfall (it opens from Monday to Saturday, from 7am to 5pm, the entrance fee is about $10), it is not a easy hike if you want to get to the base of the waterfall but for sure, the effort worth it. The second option is the hike to Rio Agrio Waterfall, less than 1 km away from Del Toro Waterfall, and it is much easier walk if you don’t use to walk that much, in the internet you can search for more information, but clicking the links that I sent you, you will have an idea about how to get there and additional details.

Catarata del Toro is located near the small town of Bajos del Toro in the remote mountains north of Costa Rica’s Central Valley. The waterfall is on the other side of Poas Volcano, but due to road conditions, is best accessed from the north.
