The museum is housed on the ground floor of the Korgialenios Library and is a donation by Vangelis Typaldos Bassia. The new wing hosts two exhibitions. The museum collects studies, classifies and records the history and folklore elements of Kefalonia from the Venetian occupation to 1953 with the earthquakes. The permanent exhibition is divided into the urban and rural sections, ecclesiastical art and city plan. The Harrokopou Collection of Byzantine Icons and the Fragiskos and Stefanos Vallianos Collection are exhibited separately. It is a warm family-run exhibition space.The aim of the museum is to present the history and the folklore elements of the island from the 16th century
