San Fernando Cathedral was founded on March 9, 1731 by a group of 15 families who came from the Canary Islands at the invitation of King Phillip V of Spain and is the oldest, continuously functioning religious community in the State of Texas.

Beautiful church and they do light shows but check schedule for times.

A 288-year-old church in the heart of downtown. FYI they have a cool light show (Instagram worthy) on the church every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 9:00pm, 9:30pm and 10:00pm.
