Depending on the time of year, and what floats your boat, there are hiking trails, mountain bike trails, disc golf course,, nordic skiing and downhill skiing. Though it's right in Traverse City, it's a very under utilized.

The best little ski hill in Northern Michigan. Hickory Hills has 6 rope tows and a magic carpet that access the mini mountain of fun. The lodge is brand new and very family oriented. The hill offers affordable skiing with a full rental department. They also have a snow tube run. In the summer you can hike the trails or play frisbee golf.
