Conhecida como a pérola do Lago de Garda, Sirmione é uma pequena cidade península. O CASTELO SCALIGERO é a porta de entrada e a principal atração do Centro Histórico. Além das famosas Águas Termais, que possuem propriedades de cura, é possível visitar também as ruínas chamadas de GRUTAS DE CATULLO, de uma antiga vila romana do primeiro século da era cristã.

Built on the end of an impossibly thin, appendix-like peninsula sticking out from the southern shore of Lake Garda, pretty Sirmione has drawn the likes of Catullus and Maria Callas to its banks over the centuries, and today millions of visitors follow in their footsteps for a glimpse of Lake Garda's prettiest village and a dip in its only hot spring.

One of the To Do places.. Sirmione is a beautiful old town located at the end of a small peninsula that towers about 4 km into Lake Garda. It is easily accessible by car or by boat during the summer. Main attractions: - Not to be missed: Grotte di Catulo – the excavated ruins (scavi) of the massive Roman villa at the headland on the tip of the peninsula - 13th century Rocca Scaligera Castle - If you have time take a short boat ride around the peninsula - Jamaica beach for a relaxed day at the beach TIP: Try to get to Sirmione early in the morning or late in the afternoon as it gets really busy during the day. If you are staying at one of the bigger villages at the lake, you may want to consider taking a boat to Sirmione so that you can avoid the busy traffic altogether. Cars are not allowed in the historical city center. You have to leave your car at one of the designated parking areas and walk from there.
