The north end of the beach is fronted by a low curving wall that’s an always-changing display of street art. Further south at Lincoln Way, there’s another one worth checking out. Just bring an extra layer—no matter what the weather is like in the rest of the city, out here you might walk into a fog bank so thick you can't see the water. At the north end of the beach near the Cliff House restaurant, take a look inside the Camera Obscura—a rare device that uses sunlight to project an image of the outside surroundings onto a surface inside. It’s based on a 15th century design by Leonardo da Vinci.

People don't usually think of going to the beach while visiting San Francisco, but incredible on a sunny, warm day. Some of the coolest new cafes, restaurants and bars are a few blocks walk/ride from the beach. Check the temp and the winds before coming out.
The beach is cold, yes, but it is still a great place to watch waves and surfers, have a BBQ in selected months, and explore nearby trails and famous restaurants, such as the Cliff House.
Go here on a warm day to see San Francisco iconic Ocean Beach. In the summer evenings its legal to have a bonfire, so check online and bring your own wood!

“What to say? One of the great parks of the United States. Just head down the hill to Kezar Stadium (at the very bottom of Willard Street) and you'll see the GGP right beyond it (walk around Kezar to the west to enter the park). You can also enter on Stanyan and Haight (and at many other points). Enjoy the Academy of Sciences, de Young Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, Stow Lake, the Conservatory of Flowers (great night time light shows in the summer and winter) and many, many other features of the park.”

“Beautiful (and easy) hiking trail overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. Pick a sunny day for the views although I also love the misty fog or as we call him, Karl the Fog! He even has his own instagram @KarlTheFog ”

“The world’s only aquarium-planetarium-rainforest-living museum. Come nose-to-beak with penguins and parrots, watch sharks and sting rays cruise beneath your feet, and feel the spray of the California coast. Fly to Mars (and beyond the Milky Way!) from the safety of your planetarium seat, take a virtual safari in African Hall, or climb into the canopy of a living rainforest. Face your fears—and an albino alligator—inside the Swamp, and meet scientists as they return from research expeditions around the world. From the depths of a Philippine coral reef to the outer reaches of the Universe, it's all inside the California Academy of Sciences.”
