If you're into kayaking on a lake, there is a spot about a 28 minute drive from Kutztown. You can rent kayaks there as well. We haven't been, but it looks like there are sandy beaches.

This is a local favorite for kayaking, fishing, water skiing, motorboats. There is a day use area with a beach, grills and swimming area. There is a minimal fee to enter the day use area. There are boat ramps available that do not have a fee to access.
