Every Saturday Chiang Rai's city center offers this fantastic street market along a 1.5 km stretch. Hundreds of stalls run by locals offer you food, handicrafts and modern stuff. Especially, the area around the redeveloped jail offers great street foods and locals dancing traditional dances.

Chiang Rai Walking Street is open every Saturday, from 16:00-24:00. It takes place on Thanalai Street in the middle of Chiang Rai downtown, from the intersection of Tobacco Office to the intersection of Government Savings Bank. There are 3 different zones of Chiang Rai Walking Street. The first zone is OTOP zone, which you can purchase quality goods like products from royal projects, some communities or ethnic groups. The second zone is handicraft zone, which you will find many pieces of valuable and stunning handicrafts done by villagers. Moreover, there are still traditional massage services for tourists. You will learn a lot about local intellect from this zone. And, the final zone is exhibition and souvenir zone, which you can get something for your friends and family.

If you’re in town on a Saturday evening be sure not to miss the open-air Walking Street, an expansive street market focusing on all things Chiang Rai, from handicrafts to local dishes. The market spans Th Thanalai from the Hilltribe Museum to the morning market.
