Legler initially worked as a postal clerk, but soon found his life consumed by his desire to spread his message to all that would listen. He purchased the land for the Moon in 1917, and with the help of a couple of close friends, began the laborious endeavor of transforming the desert into a magical landscape of winding paths, stone towers and walls, and hidden grottoes. Throughout the following years, he expanded constantly on the construction while giving tours with the aid of friends and local children under the pseudonym of “The Mountain Gnome”.

This is a magical place that was started early 100 yrs ago and is true hidden gem in Tucson. They aren’t always open so check times. They also offer private tours for any day of the week.

Off the Beaten Path. Children’s fantasy Park and listed on the national register of historic places and was constructed in the early 20th century. Regularly open the first Saturday of each month for family friendly events and the third Sunday of each month for docent- led tours. Check website.

A fun fantasy fairyland that will transport you and the family to a different world. Great fun for the kiddos. This is open to the public on the first Saturdays of every month.
