Waterhouses marks the start of the Manifold Trail, another old railway converted into a cycle/walking track. You can hire bikes at Brown End Farm - weather dependent - mainly in the Spring and Summer. Look out for Brown End Farm cycle hire signs as soon as you come down the hill into the village. The incredible Thor's Cave is on route, a hilltop cave with stunning views and history. Excavations have shown that the cave was occupied as long as 10,000 years ago and this occupation probably continued until Roman or Saxon times, making it one of the oldest sites of human activity.
