After grabbing those sandwiches head to Riverside Canoe Trips. The canoe trip takes about 2 hours. This is a popular local excursion, so we recommended going before 11 am or after 3 pm in the summer. In the fall this is a gorgeous way to enjoy the fall color and the salmon run on the Platte River.

If you are looking for an all-day activity, renting kayaks, canoes, or tubes and floating down the Platte River is sure to be a hit! At the end of the river, the Platte opens up into Lake Michigan with a view of the Sleeping Bear Dunes in the distance.

This is a trip down the lazy Lower Platte River, it empties out into Lake Michigan through some small dunes onto a beautiful beach with great views of the Sleeping Bear Dunes and Manitou Islands. It is a very popular paddle so expect a lot of traffic in the summer months

Just downstream! Wander on down in the evening for ice cream around the campfire. They have a cute little “up north” store with souvenirs, some basic groceries, and a snack bar with food service. They specialize primarily in boat, kayak, and tube rentals to make the trip from the cottage down to Lake Michigan Beach. They have several different trips that last varying lengths of time. They’ll be happy to tell you all about it!
