This amazing piece of history is located about a 5min walk 2min drive from your stay at The Tiny Cottage. The “Little Rock Nine” was a huge movement durning the integration of our country’s school system. You can check with the visitor center for tour times. Definitely a must see.

The new National Historic Site Visitor Center opened in September 2007 to mark the 50th anniversary of the school's desegregation and is one of the most-visited Little Rock landmarks. It offers Little Rock Nine information through interactive exhibits commemorating the events and telling the Little Rock Nine story. Little Rock Central High is known all over the world for the groundbreaking desegregation battle that took place there in 1957. Today, the school is a functioning high school and a national historic site with a museum and sculpture garden. The visitor center is hosted inside a replica period gas station and contains photographs and information about the site’s history. Sculpture Garden: The sculpture garden is really two arches you can walk through. The arches are decorated with photographs of Central’s history. Benches are provided so people can sit and reflect on the meaning of the arches. Where: The visitor center and the school are located on 2125 W Daisy L Gatson Bates Drive. The center is across the street from the school. If you walk across from the school’s north side, you can see the sculpture garden. When: Open All Year Monday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The school does allow tours but they must be set up in advance. Please remember this is a functioning high school with real students and treat it with respect!
