One of the best zoo's we have been to. Placed in the side of the mountains this place will be fun for the whole family.
The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a zoological park located southwest of downtown Colorado Springs, on Cheyenne Mountain. At an elevation of 6,714 feet above sea level, it is the highest zoo in America. cmzoo.org
This is one of the better Zoo's I've been to. There is a lot of personal interaction provided to enjoy your experience.
For a small-ish city, Colorado Springs has an incredible zoo! Nestled into the side of Cheyenne Mountain, it's a breath-taking setting for a zoo with some pretty amazing views. Our personal favorite is the giraffe feeding experience! Be sure to bring cash if you want to feed them they don't accept…

“If the walls of the Olympic Training Center could speak, they would tell of blood, sweat and tears of America’s finest athletes. See their training facilities, and don’t forget to ask your host about how many calories those athletes consume a day in their custom dining hall. Because there are so many athletes training here, you never know who you are rubbing shoulders with in line to buy coffee. The US Olympic Committee is headquartered downtown, and you will see the dramatic architecture of the new Olympic Museum between downtown and I-25, which opens this summer. It is near America the Beautiful Park, which is worth a visit for the great kids playground, but also hosts summer events. ”

“Seven Falls is a majestic park located in the South West region of Colorado Springs. There is beautiful hiking, breathtaking views, and a delicious restaurant located right at the base of the falls. Great for tourists to explore the beautiful Colorado Springs. ”

“Okay. So we haven't actually been to the Cave of the Winds. I asked a fellow Coloradan to write up a review for me. Aaaaand this is now on my list of things to do this summer! Here's his review: "OMG, the Cave is really one of the hidden jewels in all of Colorado! We toured the cave for the second time a few years ago and the experience was epic - both times! I’ve been to many caves all around the country and this one was very unique from the scale of it to the history behind it. I think every bit of that had to do with our tour guide. She knew the history and the stories very well and had an amazing personality that kept the group entertained. Now, about the rides... I’m at a loss for words to describe them so just believe me when I tell you hands down the best in the state. WE’RE GOING BACK in 2020!!!!"”

“Beautiful park more trafficked by locals. It has some of the same rock formations as Garden of the Gods, just not as prominent. Good mountain biking terrain especially for more beginner-intermediate skill level Dogs are allowed, but leash laws are strictly enforced at this park. Rangers are known to give out tickets without a warning first”

“In Old Colorado City, you'll find eclectic boutiques, award winning restaurants, and charming local art galleries. At night, the pubs and restaurants become hubs for live music and performances as well as some of the country’s best beer, wine and spirits — all made right here at home. ”
