Ray Behringer, silver photography. Pictures were taken on glass with an old wooden camera in a collodion wet plate process, a technique developed in 1851 by Frederic Scott Archer. Making such a picture is a long process. Starting with the composition of the chemicals, further on the preparation of the substrate, whether glass or aluminum plate, up to the act of photographing. This lasts between 5 to 30 seconds. In the development and fixation one can then watch fascinated as the picture comes slowly, as if by magic, to the fore. Every picture is unique and unique.
