The historical centre of Lucca is a small jewel that is perhaps still little known. Enclosed by its perfectly preserved 16th-century walls, it offers palaces, churches, squares, cloisters and narrow streets that take us back in time. Most of the centre is pedestrianised and above the walls there is a 4 km tree-lined promenade that provides a fascinating view of the city and a relaxing route that can also be taken by bicycle (there are several shops where you can rent them)

the walled city is the less touristy sibling of Florence and is well worth a visit for its bustling atmosphere, sophisticated boutiques and restaurants. Wander through the narrow streets, rent bikes and cycle the city walls, enjoy the fabulous shopping and dining or sip an Aperol Sprtiz in the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro.

Very Beautiful and still authentic medieval/renaissance city. The city walls are still surrounding the city and should you take a walk around them. There is a very famous oval square built over and ancient Roman amphitheater. I prefer it to Pisa as there is a lot to see and it is still a very vibrant city with lots of concerts and events throughout the year.

Around 50 minutes drive from Villa Bartolini you will find beautiful Lucca which is array of wonderfully intact historical sites makes it a must-see stop on any Tuscan itinerary. The mediaeval city walls still stand - you can hike or bike on top of them. Also visit the Duomo di San Martino and the Roman amphitheatre.

50 mins drive (48 km), this walled medieval town is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Tuscany. A walk through the historic old town reveals many beautiful attractions, picturesque alleys and charming squares. The landmarks here are Torre Guinigi, the famous tower with the trees on top and the imposing 4 km long city wall, one of the best preserved in Europe.
