Absolutely the most beatiful and fascinating part of Bergamo. You don't wanna miss a tour in its small lanes, piazza vecchia. around the venetian walls, Basilica di Santa Maria maggiore and Cappella Colleoni.

Among the unusual things to do in Bergamo Alta, remember to go in search of the mysterious Doors of the Dead. Walking along Via della Rocca you will come across houses where next to the entrance door there is another narrower and now walled door. They are called "the Doors of the Dead" as it is said that in the Middle Ages the coffins were brought out from these doors and then once the body passed through them they were bricked up. Anyone who plowed them while alive was considered dead by all members of the family.

The best way to come up to the old town is with our Funicolare: it climbs up from down town, where the bus stops, and it's possible to take it with the same bus ticket.
