“At Carsington Water you can walk or cycle (bikes for hire) around the lake - 9 miles - you can hire a boat, fish or study the fabulous wildlife from the hides . Art installations are fun and accessible. The visitors centre houses a good restaurant, a few gift shops and ice-cream parlor. There is a good size playground for the children and lots of grass areas to have a picnic. ”

“We’re perfectly placed close to the start of the Tissington Trail in Ashbourne, a 13 mile long track which follows the path of an old railway. It’s great for cycling and walking, although it is worth knowing there is a slight incline when heading out of Ashbourne, it makes getting home plain sailing though! You can head just short of Buxton, or into Ashbourne, with lots of pretty stops along the way. Tissington is often called one of the prettiest villages in the UK, with it’s avenue of 200 year old lime trees, duck pond and Jacobean Manor. There is a tea room in the village, or snack bar and picnic tables on the cycle track. Parsley Hay marks the other end of the track to Ashbourne.”

“Our cafe/coffee shop of choice in Ashbourne. A good cup of coffee, an interesting menu for breakfast/lunch and good early evening meals. A nice, clean feel to the interior. Close to the main Shaw Croft car park.”
