The museum has many living exhibits of Virginia's indigenous species. The exhibits include aspects of an aquarium, science center, aviary, botanical preserve and planetarium.

The Museum is dedicated to highlighting and fostering appreciation for the native habitats and wildlife in the Commonwealth of VA. The exhibits showcase all regions of the state from the Appalachian Mountain to the tidewater shores featuring more than 245 different animal species.
This is a great place to bring kids! Behind the museum is a walking trail that takes you by a number of animals.
