At Huertas, the fare is Basque-influenced and inspired by New York City. The chef is Jonah Miller, who is a born and raised New Yorker, but comes to Huertas from Danny Meyer's Maialino by way of a stint in Spain. It's charming and cozy and distinctly of the East Village. Fun fact: "Huertas" translates to the "orchards" or "gardens" that you'll find dotting the northern landscape of Spain.

Basque-style tapas and sherry
A really fun dining experience, with really simple ingredients from a young chef whether you go a la carte or the tasting menu. there's a reason the Times gave such a good review.
