The much-loved Highbanks in Lewis Center borders the Olentangy River with tall shale bluffs. Visitors can learn about the resident animals at the nature center, walk or bike the many paths, picnic in the meadows, or hike out to the observation deck along the bluffs, where you may be able to spot bald eagles nesting.

Some lovely trails through woods with massive 100-foot-high shale bluff towering over the Olentangy State Scenic River. Tributary streams cutting across the bluff have created a number of deep ravines in the eastern part of the 1,200-acre park. Ohio and Olentangy shales, often containing outstanding large concretions, are exposed on the bluff face and sides of the ravines. My favorite park to go for walks in town.
