Anatolia is a region as old as human culture. Settlements starts with agriculture in the history and agriculture starts in Mesapotamia, mainly Anatolia. Anatolia was home for different civilizations all around the history, and it witnessed changes of the cultures one by one. Museum give the chance to experience history and trace through civilizations.

If you are new to the city and interested in sightseeing, I would highly suggest taking a walk around the Ankara Castle in the Ulus area and visiting the Anatolian Civilisation Museum which has a number of exhibits of Anatolian archaeology ranging from the Palaeolithic era chronologically through the Neolithic, Early Bronze, Assyrian trading colonies, Hittite, Phrygian, Urartian, Greek, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuq and Ottoman periods

Undoubtedly, the most popular museum in Ankara, Anatolian Civilizations Museum, boasts a vast collection of artefacts unearthed in Anatolia carrying marks of various civilizations. The museum has sections focused on the Paleolithic Age, Chalcolithic Age, Old Bronze Age, Assyrian Trade Colonies, Old Hittite and Hittite Imperial Ages, the Phrygian Kingdom, the Late Hittite Kingdom, the Urartian Kingdom, and Classical Periods. Entrance for the museum costs 45 liras and is free with a Museum Card.
