One of the main attractions in Kilkenny
As well as seeing this 12th Century castle you can also visit the currently exhibition of the Ross Tapestries . They are just fabulous!
If you also face a short stroll the castle grounds are perfect for just that.
If you fancy a little further but nothing that is going to over tax you, you can walk along the river walkathon the edge of the castle. Anyone in the castle will point you in the right direction. Get yourself a coffee or an ice cream for the walk from the cafe stand outdoors at the castle

St. Mary’s Medieval Mile Museum
Located in the heart of Ireland’s Medieval Mile, no trip to Kilkenny is complete without a visit to the Medieval Mile Museum!
Experience the famous guided tours, running daily at 10 a.m. 2 p.m. & 3 p.m., or explore the city‘s cobblestone streets on foot on our Medieval Mile Trail which runs every at 11 a.m.
Well worth a visit!
If you fancy a day away from the hustle and bustle of Kilkenny check out the More Valley walk. You can walk from Kilkenny to Bennettsbridge and have a lovely pint of Guinness in one of the lovely traditional pubs in the village. The walk is moderate and is about 8 kms. It take about 2hours and is well worth it. Walking shoes/boots are advised but if we have had a spell of dry weather you will manager in trainers.
It will be a dy to remember!

The National Design and Crafts Gallery is located in one of the most beautiful enclosed spaces in Ireland. House within the original stables for the Kilkenny Castle this gallery is in a crescent shaped building. The large windows would have allowed for carriages to be stored.
Currently on display in a fabulous contemporary Metal exhibition with would from European and Japanese makers. Well worth a visit. Stroll from here into the Butler gardens at the back of the Castle Yard. Or pop to JMK Goldsmiths or Ray Power pottery for a spot of shopping
