Ogunquit translates from the Native American to "beautiful place by the sea," and no truer statement exists! This lively town has a certain vibe and is an all-inclusive town. Piano bars host drag nights, and people show their Pride. The beaches are spectacular, the night-life lively yet civilized. Restaurants abound and include pizza, pasta, Thai, American (boring, but necessary burgers and such) and let's not forget the venerated Lobster. The Ogunquit Playhouse had a fantastic lineup of shows for 2022, including The Nutty Professor.

Beach parking fills up early!
If you want to get to the beach for a day of basking in the sun and frolicing in the surf, set your alarm and get out the door by 8 a.m. Really. Otherwise you might get into bumper to bumper traffic that moves turtle-slow.
The Chamber of Commerce lists a couple of local modes of transportation, including a trolley in Ogunquit and one in York. Uber and Lyft virtually don't exist here, unless you luck out and find someone offering their services this season.

Ogunquit Museum of American Art
The Perkins Cove School of art was established in the late 1800's and many famous artists came through and painted here. The museum has ample parking on a spectacular crashing ocean setting a short walk from Perkins Cove.
