If you fancy a walk, going to Victoria Park is a really nice option. It's not too far away (circa 20 minutes) and takes you along the ihstoric, pedestrianised New Walk.

Good sized park, great for jogging and has free outdoor gym equipment. Full sized tennis courts and netball / basketball courts available for rent (pre booking advised)
